The two Dodge recruits share a common starting point – the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye coupe. Cars will be available exclusively in Widebody versions. In addition, the manufacturer positions the Charger as the fastest and most powerful sedan on the planet.
Since Dodge will add horsepower to its lineup, it was said a couple of days ago. Of course, the newcomer to the “hellcat” Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat deserves special attention, but that’s not all. Updates are in store for the “oldies” of the insane series – the Challenger coupe and the Charger sedan. The first one got hold of the SRT Super Stock version. The new name hints at the car’s connection to custom dragsters. A couple of years ago, 808 hp. and 959 N • m under the hood of the SRT Hellcat Redeye was the peak of insanity, but the newcomer had even more – 819 forces at the same thrust. Demon doesn’t count. That was a limited edition, Super Stock is a production car.
The well-known V8 Hemi 6.2 engine with a supercharged drive has been reconfigured and now spins up a hundred rpm faster than the Redeye version – up to 6400. The operation of the eight-speed TorqueFlite 8HP90 “automatic” has also been adjusted. The final drive ratio is 3.09: 1 – such an 808-horsepower model is available for a surcharge. The Super Stock two-door picks up 62 mph from standstill in 3.25 seconds, but due to the high tires the top speed is limited to 167.77 mph. The generally accepted drag distance of 402 meters is covered by the coupe in 10.5 s and gains 131.109 ml / h, winning three hulls from the previous flagship. Sales start – by the end of the year.
The appearance of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye model was discussed back in winter. Compressor “eight” Hemi 6.2 produces 808 hp. and 959 N • m, like the Redeye coupe. The box is the same eight-band “automatic”. The firm believes that the “red-eyed” Charger is now the fastest sedan in the world. Therefore, atelier projects such as the Alpina B7 do not count. To accelerate from zero to 62.1371 ml / h, Dodge needs 3.5 s, and to reach 128.624 ml / h on a segment of 402 m – 10.6. The limiting speed is 202.567 ml / h. For example, the BMW M5 Competition supercar spends 3.3 seconds for the first hundred, but its maximum speed is 189.518 ml / h. The novelty will be on sale in 2021.
